Having operated as a director in a medium sized enterprise, I have a good understanding of some of the challenges faced by this sector.

For owner/managers one of these is access to a trusted and experienced source of effective advice that can be turned to when required but is not permanently on the payroll. Sometimes the need is not so much advice as a sounding board to bounce ideas off or to talk through difficult business issues with.

At other times there may be a need for some confidential work to be done in respect of a potential change in the business.

Strategic analysis, business & resource planning and financial navigation are areas where I can facilitate you and your senior team develop the thinking necessary to plot the future course of the business. In particular by identifying the opportunities and threats derived from the existing strengths and vulnerabilities of the business.

In the area of employee benefits I can help you review your compliance with the new pensions regime due to come into force in 2012 and also your wider incentive structure. If appropriate, this might include considering employee share ownership, succession planning and an exit strategy for the current owners.

If you need to run a project to introduce a change into the business, I can provide the leadership to make that happen.

Clearly some areas in which you may require help will be outside my expertise or my experience.
